Default What I have learned from playing TA and CA arenas till my eyes bleed

1) If you are a warrior they only sensible weapon to bring is a fiery dragon sword. Enemies are actually blinded by the heat coming off of it and it looks so cool that all the ladies will dig you.

2) If you are a warrior make sure you bring mending. You can’t count on the monk to heal you and since you are the most important person on your team (because of your fiery dragon sword) only YOU can do what is needed to win. If you are really unsure of your monk’s abilities bring extra tank skills.

3) No matter what class you are make sure you bring some sort of self healing- Everyone’s favorite seems to be the heal signet. Heal signet is awesome because it doesn’t use any energy! However, heal signet takes a few seconds to cast so you need to make sure you bring frenzy to make it cast faster.

4) Sometimes someone on your team will say that they are attacking one of your opponents. Next to your party health bar a little cross hair icon will appear when this happens. DO NOT attack the person that they are. Most people in this game can handle one target by themselves. Besides, they probably aren’t attacking the warrior- who I’ve realized is the most important person in the group and should be taken out first (because of the fiery dragon sword).

5) Sometimes those health bars of your team get in the way of you being able to see all of the foes in the area. If you hit F11 you can remove them from your display with the game options. This is a little known secret that will ensure your victory.

6) If you are a ranger (you should really be a warrior but sometimes winning all the time gets boring) and the rest of your team is dead it is important that you run from your enemies as fast as you can. The match actually ends after 30 minutes in game and the team with the least amount of players alive wins. Make sure you create your ranger accordingly and bring plenty of running stances and self heals.

7) Necromancers are great classes for 4v4 (but not as good as warriors) the reason Necros are so good is that they can create minions from the corpses of dead players. Using this uber strategy you can actually have up to 8 additional players on your team. No matter how good your opponents are there is no way they can defeat 8 of you.

8) When ever you get a purple square on your enchantment bar (that is the thing on the top left of your screen if you haven’t turned it off yet by using the game options) it means that you have been powered up by your team mates and you can do extra damage. It is important that you use all of your skills/spells/attack speed increasing abilities as soon as possible to get all the benefits from the purple super buff.

9) If you are an elementalist (you should really be a warrior) there is only one element you should ever think about using: Fire. Fire is the best element hands down because it does so much damage that you can almost kill a warrior by yourself. A super neat trick is to have a mesmer secondary and bring the skill echo with you (echo is the only useful mesmer skill btw). This will allow you to cast your big meteor spells more often- for more huge damage numbers.

10) Don’t ever play a mesmer or attack one. They are probably the weakest class in the game because they hardly do any damage. You are way better off playing a warrior or maybe a necromancer with minions.

11) Sometimes the other team might be able to actually kill you (did you remember your mending and heal signet??). When this happens type in the chat that you are dead and need to be resurrected. I’d recommend typing it in all capital letters and doing it in the general chat so your team can see it. It is imperative that your team rezz you as soon as possible so you can kill the enemy’s warrior before he kill’s your team’s Necromancer. You really don’t need to be polite at all. The important thing is that you get brought back NOW and that your team’s monk does a better job of healing you in the future.

12) There are only three possible ways that you can lose a match: Your other three teammates are terrible players and are playing lame classes like memser or monk, the other team cheated by hacking the game, and/or your opponents have read this post and learned the mad skillz required to win.

Lmao this is great... but you forgot to add...

-If you are a warrior (and we aren't you?!) make sure you charge in ahead of all of your teamates into the other team. I mean its not like 4 people can kill a warrior.

-Ressurection Signets always led to a teams defeat, so you should NEVER bring one.

Lol this was a great thread. Great job Chase The Sky.

You're all forgetting a few important lessons.
1. If the other team is cheating and somehow kills you, tell your team to rez. Keep spamming it in the team window. If they say they got interrupted, call them a stupid noob.
2. If you don't get a rez in 5 seconds, you should map out. If they can't see how important you are, they deserve to lose.
3. Have you gone on a win streak? Make sure you tell the other team that in the all-chat window. Did you make it to TA? Make sure you call yourself an unstoppable CA team, most people will quit out of fear.
4. If you're playing a monk, bring Word of Healing, Orison, and Healing Breeze. Those are the only important skills. You don't need condition removal because Healing Breeze does it for you. Orison also removes hexes.
5. If you're a warrior, and some necro uses Spiteful Spirit on you, he's asking to get killed, isn't he? Go over and hit him with frenzy!
6. Never, ever bring Wild Blow. Sure, you think it might be a good idea to remove a trapper's Mantra of Resolve, or that Ranger's Whirling defense, or embarrass that other warrior who thought Gladiator's Defense was a good idea. But you lose all adrenaline when you use it, so you can't use sever artery and gash.
7. The only elites you should ever take for every class: Warrior: Hundred Blades, Ranger: Poison Arrow, Monk: Word of Healing (only if you don't have enough energy for healing breeze, though!), Necro: Life Transfer, Mesmer: Illusionary Weaponry, Elementalist: Don't bring an elite, that's one less slot that can be used for meteor shower!
8. Never bring enchantment removal, you won't ever need it. If someone does use enchants, they're not fighting like a man and are probably not as smart as you are.
9. Remember, anyone with a /mo should be healing, and they need to be healing YOU. Healing Hands always belongs on you.
10. If someone casts Backfire or Spiteful on you, your job is to keep attacking and casting. If you die, the Monk should have healed you!
11. Full Platemail or Dragon Armor are your best options as a warrior. Usually your terrifying visage will cause the other team to run in terror.
12. If you're the team monk, and a warrior starts chasing you, your first priority is to run as far away from your teammates as possible. Okay, so maybe you can't be there to heal the rest of them while the other team focuses fire and slaughters your teammates, but at least you're alive.

That's just a few things I noticed today. The part about spiteful is especially true, though Rangers are just as bad, especially because many like to stand right next to the monks and keep firing.

Rofl lmao, awesome post people, finally I can pawn n00bs in CA

Things to add:

-always bring a 1:1 vampiric weapon and always have it equiped

-always bring at least 6 or 7 signets of capture so you can cap your foes elite

-dont wear any armour, its there for looks only

-wear 5 superior runes because it will make your attributes go higher, who cares about hp?

-always talk in caps, that way people can see what your typing

-dont bring any type of rez because if someone dies on your team its just saying they suck and you wont win anyway

Word is decent. Good energy management when combined with mesmer secondary inspiration skills for example.

Life Transfer is pretty bad. It's just a health degen hex, and for an elite thats not really great. Also being a hex, its easily removed. Yes it might work in arena, but thats not really saying much.

Illusionary Weaponry is also a skill that only really works in arena, where enchantment removal is near enough non existant. Anywhere else you would probably find it drained or stripped off you pretty fast.

I'm not saying Word is bad. However, whenever I see a monk in CA, it seems they're running it 9/10 times. Also, in CA, as a monk, you've got a huge bullseye on you 75% (I'd say) of the time, so the benefit of a skill limited to other allies is lessened a bit.
Moreover, my point wasn't to say that the skills necessarily were bad (though Life Transfer I hate), but rather that most people don't seem to experiment in CA.

-As a warrior, you should put all your attribute to strength and tactic then shout it in all CAP. The opponent would coward in fear of your wit and power.

-As an elementalist (what for?) you should put all your attribute to energy storage and use ether prodigy so you never run out of energy! (why bother using other element when you got all the energy you need? Necro can never steal enough energy like this!)

-A ranger should not use a bow, you are much better off using a shield so you can have even higher survive rate!

-A necromancer need to put all his/her attribute to soul reaping, so that whenever someone die, you steal energy from everyone.

-A monk need to put to all his/her attribute to balance (same number across the line), this way you can be the most balance class in the game!

-A mesemer is useless anyway, but you probably should put all attribute to fast casting then use wastel's worry continuously, then you MIGHT do some thing for your team (although still not enough)

you cant use res sig on yourself, therefore it is useless.

that trapper? gash through his mantra of resolve. his en loss is totally worth your blind.

dont bring condition removal. thats what your monk is for.

run through the dust trap so the enemy team can't see you approach and run. non-warriors run. always.

the enemy warrior is almost as tough as you. the lamer monk will prolly just spam heal himself. go for the enemy mesmer. empathy is only doing like 25 damage. you have 500hp. hack away. if you die because of a mesmer it's the monk's fault.

if you die ... it's the monk's fault.

if the monk dies it's his own fault.

what i learned today
1. lvl 9 warriors that come to LA Arena call u a n00b win u tell them to kindly go back to ascalon.
2. Lvl 9 warriors show off there rank 4 emote when u ask them to go back to ascalon.
3. lvl 9 warriors think they are invincible or as good as lvl 20 characters.
4. lvl 9 players die really quickly.
5. lvl 9 warriors believe that if they are a KD they can own lvl 20's without any help
6. lvl 10 warriors take your advice.

As you can see im not real happy about lvls that are lower then lvl 16 being in the LA Arena. I got on this morning to get a little more Faction. I went in and got stuck with a lvl 10. i kindly said "please go back to Ascalon as you have a better chance of winning there" i never saw him again this morning. Well that group lost so i went again and this time i got a lvl 9. I said the exact same thing. he replys to me "im just as good as you im a KD warrior u n00b." he then preceded to show his Rank 4 Emote.(i think it was rank 4) i then said "i dont care what rank you are you are still only lvl 9" he replyed with "stfu n00b." i said "you dont have half the attribute points that us lvl 20s have so please let us enjoy our fights and go back to ascalon." he proceded to say nothing run in at the other group (4 lvl 20s) and died really quickly. then when i rezed another player he cursed me out and left. I got into a group with im another 5 times, and everytime someone in my group got mad at him. so if your are 15 or below in level PLEASE STAY IN EITHER ASCALON OR SHIVERPEAK!!!
